Just as a follow-up....you can read the story of our President deciding to get involved at http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/10/obama-speech-authorise-air-strikes-against-isis-syria.
I suppose this answers my question! Don't get me wrong, I would not be happy if we went back to war. I do not necessarily support military actions, but I also don't support taking no action at all. Also, does anyone else find it an amazing coincidence that this was released the day before 9/11? Clever political move, dontcha think??

  1. His announcement was timed extremely well, but I think that if anything it serves as a reminder of the long war that followed 9/11. What is happening with ISIS is really a big problem, but it is unrealistic to think that we can just go in and fix everything. There is no simple answer to the ISIS problem, to put it simply. President Bush had a whole country of people ready to "defeat the terrorists and show them what America was all about" following 9/11. It didn't really turn out that way, and now military action without popular support from the people seems like it could result in disaster. I'm not saying we should do nothing, but we have to do it differently than before in Afghanistan and Iraq.
